Welcome to the All-Ireland Cancer Liquid Biopsies Consortium (CLuB) emerging hub of excellence

CLuB is an exciting collaboration building on internationally-recognised leadership in cancer research at Trinity College Dublin, Queen’s University Belfast, and the University of Galway.

CLuB’s ambition and focus are on identifying and developing minimally-invasive, cost effective, blood tests to complement or, where possible, replace surgical biopsies for cancer diagnosis and optimal treatment selection. CLuB also uses excised tumours as “avatars” to better understand the specific origin of important components of the liquid biopsy and to test the optimal drug treatment regime for a given patient.

CluB aims to bring cohesive leadership, insights, novel approaches, excellence in research, training, and teaching collectively and on the individual components of Liquid Biopsies, moving towards best management of cancer for patients and also feeding back into teaching North and South.

CLuB joins two internationally recognised cancer research institutes, North and South.

These are Trinity St. James’s Cancer Institute and the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research that, together with researchers at Queen’s University Belfast and the National Centre for Research Training in Genomics Data Science will build a sustainable foundation for collaborative research on liquid biopsies for cancer across the island of Ireland.

CLuB is supported through the North-South Research Programme 2021 collaborative scheme arising from the Irish Government’s Shared Island Initiative.
