Publication by CLuB Members in the Journal of Liquid Biopsy

Congratulations to CLuB member, Volga M. Saini, first author of an article in The Journal of Liquid Biopsy: Performance Evaluation of a Novel Size-Based Microfluidic Platform for Rare Cell Detection in Blood and Malignant Effusions.

Circulating tumour cells (CTCs) are promising minimally invasive biomarkers of tumour dissemination and disease biology, but low abundance and phenotypic heterogeneity make them challenging to isolate, particularly in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Physical cell-selection approaches based on size and deformability may facilitate recovery of heterogeneous tumour populations. This study evaluated the performance of the Bio-Rad™ Genesis Cell Isolation System, a microfluidic platform based on these properties, across different tumour phenotypes and liquid biopsy sample types.

Other contributors to the paper from CLuB were Ezgi Oner, Christina Cahill, Sinead Hurley, Brian David Henderson, Faye Lewis, John J. O’Leary, Sharon O’Toole, Lorraine O’Driscoll and Kathy Gately, and associated researchers Hannah O’Toole, Lauren McMahon, Mark Ward and Marika Kanjuga.
