World Cancer Day 2026

Today is World Cancer Day so we are sharing details about what drives the research of some of our CLuB team.

Faye Lewis, PhD Candidate: "My work in ovarian cancer research is strongly shaped by patient and public involvement (PPI), because meaningful progress comes from listening to lived experience - echoing the long-standing principle of “nothing about us without us.”

Dr Sharon O'Toole: "Patients with ovarian cancer can respond differently which is why our research is focussed on more personalised treatments."

Dr Niamh Buckley: "Our research is focused on understanding the molecular changes driving cancers, developing tools so we can identify which patients have this change and developing tailored treatment options to maximise clinical response and overall patient outcome."

Prof. Lorraine O'Driscoll: “I am passionate about maximising the advancement of our novel cancer research, to benefit every individual cancer patient.”

Dr Kathy Gately: “Our patient-focussed research strives to improve the diagnosis & treatments options for all patients with cancer”.

Dr Paul Mullan: “Our aim is to improve the survival rates for many aggressive cancer types, by enabling the earlier detection of cancers and surveillance of patients through their cancer journey”.
